SYMPATHY FOR LANDLORDS

If you are a landlord and you depend on that rental income to make your mortgage payment, I understand the stress you have to rid yourself of a bad tenant, but you’ve got to play by the rules.  Don’t turn off the electricity.  Don’t lock the doors or change the locks.  Do give notice, file your case, and get an attorney.  Whether you have rental property for additional income or as your primary source of income, you’re much better off if you’re not paying court costs on an improper eviction.  

Landlords are an important part of our real estate market.  They invest in a property and provide housing for those who may not otherwise qualify for a mortgage.  That’s a good thing, but you get a tenant who does not pay rent and/or damages the property, you have my sympathy.
