FINANCIAL DRY SLIDE

In Malta, Idaho, there is a private homeowner, who out of the goodness of his heart, built a long water slide for friends and neighboring families.  This water slide is 75 if not 100 yards long.  Adults and kids alike from the surrounding area greatly enjoy the thrill of zooming down at light speed.

Don’t outrun your money and leave skin on a dry slide downhill to your financial demise.
Don’t outrun your money and leave skin on a dry slide downhill to your financial demise.

On one such occasion after a long winter, a young man was so excited to start spring activities, that he was the first in line for the slide.  The owner turned on the water and told the boy to wait.  But the young man in his infinite wisdom decided he had waited long enough.  He took a running start and dove on the slide!  Within one second he was going mach 7.  There was only one problem:  the water running down the slide wasn’t.

The boy outran the water and as you can only imagine, flesh versus hot, sticky, unwet plastic…what’s the word to describe?  All I can tell you, it was a nasty sight.  That’s what can happen to your money—and quickly too—if you try to defend yourself against a property title claim without title insurance.

Coulda—woulda—shoulda—that’s a bad place when for a nominal, one-time fee at closing you can buy title insurance that covers the entire slippery slope of expensive legal fees.  The fortune you never knew you had suddenly gets cashed in just to try to hang onto what you’ve got—forget retirement plans, vacations, college tuition for your kids, or even groceries next week.

Sometimes you don’t know what you have until it’s gone.  Don’t let that be you.  Get title insurance on all your real estate.  Even the cheap property can cost you more than it’s worth to defend.  Don’t outrun your money and leave skin on a dry slide downhill to your financial demise.
